Finding A Wedding Planner?
Question: How do I find a wedding planner who specialises in destination weddings? How does the planner charge for his/her services? Do I have to pay for her travel expenses?
Answer: by The Knot
Viewing a consultant’s portfolio is crucial in determining if he/she specialises in destination weddings — an experienced destination wedding consultant usually has at least a dozen distant weddings under his/her belt. When looking for a wedding planner, it’s helpful to look for someone who specialises in weddings at your specific location, so ask if and how many weddings the consultant has done at your intended destination.
There is no uniform charge for consultant services. Some wedding planners charge a percentage of the total wedding cost, others charge a flat rate, and some charge by the hour. This is something you should ask each consultant you consider. The consultant’s travel expenses are usually not included in his/her fees, so you should ask about that before hiring too.
To locate wedding consultants in your area, check out The Knot Local Resources. Additionally ask your reception site manager for the names of planners they’ve worked with who’ve done a good job.
