Keeping Problem Skin Under Control?
Question: I have problem skin that erupts without warning. I was wondering if it's a good idea to get a facial right before my wedding. If not, are there other ways to make sure my skin stays clear?

While it’s understandable that you want to do everything you can to avoid a dreadful breakout, it’s probably not a good idea to get a facial right before the big day. As any spa junkie will tell you, your skin — especially if it’s sensitive — may be blotchy and red for up to a week after the procedure. If you absolutely must have extractions, see your facialist or dermatologist at least two weeks before the wedding so your skin will have time to recover.
Luckily, there are other ways to get your face in tip top shape. Keep your pores as clean as possible by washing twice a day with a mild, oil free soap and exfoliate with a gentle facial scrub. If you’ve got oily skin, use a toner or witch hazel on problem areas and apply an oil absorbing clay mask at least once a week. But be careful not to over dry, as doing so may lead to more breakouts. Pat a light moisturiser onto drier areas and drink plenty of fluids to keep your skin hydrated —- at least eight glasses of water a day. If you experience a bride’s worst nightmare, finding that a giant blemish has appeared on your face the day before your wedding, call your dermatologist, who may be able to zap the zit with a cortisone shot.

I have frequent breakouts but my beauty therapist introduced me to thier ‘high frequency’ wand. It looks like a mini light saber and they light brush it over your skin and zap any large under skin pimples with little zaps of electricity (it’s not painful at all). It completely takes the body out of the pimple and in most cases gets rid of it completely before it has a chance to surface. I would reccomend this about 2-3 days prior to the day but you could always do it the day before in an emergency.
