It’s only natural that you want to look amazing and feel confident about your body on your wedding day. Try these simple but effective tips to get fit and healthy.

Slim down and tone up
If you want to tone up for your big day don’t leave it until the last minute, start your healthy wellness plan three to six months before your wedding. If you want to drop a dress size, it’s important to incorporate a balanced and sustainable approach to weight loss. Getting active doesn’t have to be cardio-heavy workout at the gym (unless that’s your thing!) – it can be as simple as going for a brisk walk most days of the week. If you’re feeling adventurous, pick exercises you enjoy, like boxing to release pent up tension and anxiety; or swimming which does wonders for the upper and lower body, while dancing can get your abs, thighs and butt moving. Invest in some hand weights to tone up your arms and back. It’ll also take your mind off the stresses of your day and give you time to digest wedding plans while you get into shape.

Superfoods
It’s essential to achieve the balance of protein and complex carbohydrates in order for the body to function at optimum levels. You need to consume protein daily as the body doesn’t store protein and skin, hair, muscle and bone are all made of it. Some lesser known plant-based sources of protein include the grain quinoa, chickpeas, and nuts such as walnuts and almonds. Complex carbs, on the other hand, are stored by the body and are the brain’s main source of energy and can be found in foods like wholegrain pasta, rye bread, oats, potato, brown rice and all wholegrain foods. Look out for superfoods, known for their antioxidant disease-fighting components, such as blueberries, omega-3 rich salmon, beans, tomato and dark green vegetables such as spinach and broccoli. Eat wholegrains, five serves of vegetables, two serves of fruit and lean meats. Try to minimise alcohol and instead drink lots of water.

Get social about your weight-loss
The best tip for losing weight: don’t go it alone! Losing weight with family or friends can help you stay motivated and make if fun! You might even enlist the help of a professional like one of the consultants at Jenny Craig who will steer you in the right direction and ensure you have the tools to reach your goal weight. You’ll actually enjoy your weekly one-on-one consultations. Or if getting to a centre is difficult, why not have the delicious Jenny Craig food home delivered and do a consultation over the phone?

Whatever you do, make sure you set yourself mini milestones along the way to help celebrate those successes.
