Pre-Wedding Grooming Tips for Him
Your groom deserves to look his best on your wedding day too. Give him a helping hand (and a light push) in the right direction.
by Chelsea Tromans
We all know guys aren’t as beauty-savvy (or obsessed!) as us girls, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have grooming woes of their own. From hair loss to razor rash, your fiancé probably has a niggling problem in need of assistance. Now is the time to help him primp and preen in time for the wedding.
Dandruff
White flakes on a black suit is not a good look. Save your groom the embarrassment by addressing the problem head-on. Dandruff is a common problem amongst men but isn’t something he needs to put up with. To soothe a dry, itchy scalp and battle any dandruff problems pop a bottle of Head & Shoulders Itchy Scalp Care Shampoo and Conditioner, $5.99 each, in the shower. The eucalyptus calms and visibly reduces flaking, leaving hair soft and shiny. The best news is you can use it too!

Dry, irritated skin
Due to regular shaving, a poor skincare routine and environmental aggressors, men often experience dry and irritated skin but don’t think much of it. Help ease the pain by encouraging him to regularly cleanse daily and moisturise day and night (at the very least). Popping on a soothing cream after shaving is also a great idea for easing irritation. Nivea for Men’s Q10 range has a great Double Action After-Shave Balm, $11.50 that will soothe irritation and re-energise tired skin. Follow with a daily moisturiser that also offers SPF protection.

Tired eyes
Is your hubby-to-be looking a little worse for wear after all your late nights spent planning the wedding? Treat him to an Ella Baché Men’s Anti-fatigue Espresso Facial Treatment for a relaxing and invigorating experience that will pep up his skin (and make him feel pampered, too). Call 1800 789 234 to book a 60 minute treatment, $95. Also consider Ella Baché Homme’s Anti-fatigue Roll-on Eye Gel, $75 for a reducing under eye puffiness and dark circles at home.

Oily skin
We think your ring should be the shiniest thing at your wedding, so if your groom’s complexion is shine-prone, we recommend a cleanser for oily skin and popping an oil-balancing lotion on the morning of the wedding. The Body Shop For Men Maca Root Oil Balancing Face Protector, $25.95 is nice and light, but effectively targets hydration while having a mattifying effect on the skin (read: controls shine throughout the day).

Hair loss
For most men, hair loss is their biggest concern. And even though you promise to love him for better or worse, he’ll still freak out when the strands start to shed. Kérastase Homme has formulated a new range of hair products which targets thinning by reinforcing the hair mass and slowing the effects of both hormonal and aggravating factors associated with male hair loss. Wash hair with Kérastase Homme Soin Capital Force Densifying Shampoo, $29.50 to strengthen and fortify the hair from root to tip. Finish with a couple of spritzes of Kérastase Homme Soin Capital Force Densifying Leave-in Treatment, $38.50 over towel-dried hair. Two simple steps he’ll actually do.
