WHY FIJI? The couple wanted their honeymoon to be the holiday of a lifetime. Staying in luxurious accommodation in a tropical destination was the perfect way to relax in style.

WHEN THEY WENT January

WHERE THEY STAYED Lauren and John spent four nights at Likuliku Lagoon Resort in Fiji before continuing their honeymoon around Europe and Dubai.

HONEYMOON HIGHLIGHTS  Staying in a couples-only resort meant plenty of privacy, relaxation and activities to enjoy, like swimming, sunbaking, snorkelling, bushwalking, and eating. The groom also had a go at windsurfing and wakeboarding.

GOOD TO KNOW Fiji has lots of day excursions on offer, so take advantage and visit some of the 333 islands. The Coral Coast is a must-see, with its gorgeous beaches, the scenic Fijian highlands complete with waterfalls, and national parks to trek through.

WHEN TO GO The best time to travel to Fiji is in its dry season, which falls from May to October. November to April is considered the wet season with heavy rainfall, higher humidity and an increased chance of cyclones.

TRAVEL TIME Jetstar flies direct from Sydney to Nadi International Airport four times per week. Flying time is 4 hours and 10 minutes.

COSTS Fiji caters for all budgets, but expect to pay more for food and drinks at resorts. Five-star hotels and resorts often have meal plans included, which are worth considering, plus lots of free activities and water equipment usage available.
