We’ve got little photo frames that we got from ebay for a GREAT price (ask if the seller will go lower) that we’re using at place cards as well. Then we’re also getting some of that personalised candy which was heaps cheaper then we originally thought it would be!!

We are giving the money we would have spent on favours to a charity and then putting a note on the table for each guest saying that we have made a donation on their behalf. we then will put those a little heart choc with the note (just so they have something). We heard the idea from someone else and loved it.

Hi Annie
Whilst in theory this is a lovely thing to do I feel it really isn’t appropriate for a favour. Basically it is not a faour to donate to a charity on behalf of someone else. That person may not agree with the charity that you have chosen (a lot of people have problems with the way some “charities” spend their money). Donating to a charity is a private thing. If you want to give to the charity skip the favours and just donate the money to the charity.
The above is a good link that details both sides of the arguement.

whist i do see your point of view i know my guests and they will see as a nice thing to do. it suits my FH and I so that’s what we will do. still happy with our choice.

We decided to skip the favours and have offered our guests an open bar instead so they choose the drinks they like and not just what was available in a package.

We are using chocolate hearts as part of out placecards, and then our wedding cake is cupcakes, (with a top layer as an actual cake) so after the cake cutting, we are handing out the cupcakes in noodle boxes as a wedding favor.
Annie, I think donating to charity is a great idea. I would much rather see that as a favour than be given something I would never use and would just sit in a cupboard in my house!!
