Wedding Ceremony Locations

Hi,

I have now narrowed down my reception selections, I am either having my reception at The Bays in Mordialloc or Fortnums in Sassafras. I am wondering does it matter if the ceremony location is far away from the reception area? (was originally thinking of having it at Wilson’s Botanical Gardens – Berwick)

Can you suggest any locations to hold a ceremony in or near either Mordialloc or in the dandenongs? a garden venue or something similar.

Thanks

I don’t think it matters if the reception is a bit of a drive away. I hope it doesn’t! My ceremony is in Beaconsfield and the reception is near Lilydale, should take about 40 minutes.

There are a number of parks and gardens in the Dandenongs that are available for ceremonies. I’ve always thought the lake area at the Alfred Nicholas gardens would be a great spot for a ceremony – you could walk across one of the bridges as the aisle and exchange vows on the little island.

Be aware that pretty much everywhere will charge you a few hundred dollars for the use of their grounds. And that not many of them have a wet-weather option!

Hi Elise,

Thanks have decided to go for The Bays in Mordy, really loved it! Looking at garden areas in Brighton to have the ceremony, not too far away, bout 20 – 30 mins travel to the reception. I’ve emailed the council, just waiting for them to get back to me, hopefully wont cost too much! I asked the venue and they said that quite often they hold the ceremony in the function room as well if the weather is bad, as most ppl tend to try and have the ceremony on the beach across the road. So we have that option if weather turns bad.

I spoke to a friend and she went to a wedding where the reception was over an hour away from the cerempony location, she said the only problem with it was the bride and groom didnt rock up til ages as their photo session took 2 hours then the travel time for them as well, so I think we both have best keep this in mind!
