Hi,
I was hoping someone could reccomend a videograher and separate photographer in the sydney area that they were happy with that didnt break the bank?
Also does anyone know what sort of price range for each one is average so i can start comparing?
I think this is the MOST important thing i will have to choose so any help and recommendations would be fantastic!

Hi,
The wedding photographer I am having is fairly affordable. I am paying around $1400 for them to take some photos before the ceremony on the day and they will not leave until the wedding reception is over. They are based in the city area (I think it is Stanmore). They are called My Wedding Photos. They can also be found on facebook. They do videography as well.
Another one that I know of is Clarity Photography, it is based in the Penrith area and Krystal the photographer is really popular, but she is quite affordable. She does travel all over Sydney.
Some people pay in excess of $4000 for a photographer, but it all depends on your budget. Check the feedback from previous clients, check their work, meet up with them in their studio to see if you like their work and their personality. They will be taking photos of you all day long, so you want to be happy with their personality.
All the best
Liz

the most expensive would be suppliers like gm and inlighten who will charge upwards of $4500 for photography. There are plenty of others who are less well known but will charge half the price.
Videographers/Cinematographers have a very broad price range but you definately get what you pay for in this department. You can pay anything from $2000 – $7000 but if you are paying less than $4000 you probably are not going to get the best quality from what i have seen of sample videos on youtube and vimeo. Soda films has an option of just filming 3 – 4 hours of your day (maybe just ceremony and you location shots and start of reception for example) and this is about $3000. Soda is a very reputable cinematographer. I think iconic films in winston hills is a little more reasonable as well. Good luck – I am still trying to decide myself!

I’m using Dreamlife photgraphy in Darlington. They have videographers as well.
We’re paying about $2600 which includes an album, some prints and 10 hours of coverage.
My weddings not until November, but so far they’ve been great!

When you meet your photographer and videographer make sure to ask how long it will take to see the preliminary photos (ideally they should be ready after the honeymoon) and then how long it would take for the album.
I have heard many nightmare stories about couples waiting for months (or longer!) for their wedding albums. (And I’m sorry to say that the worst horror stories I have heard have been about Dreamlife, I sincerely hope that your experience is much better laniejade!)
We have chosen not to have a videographer and our photographer is Sarah Garton from Mint photography.
Our package is on the pricey side but we were able to customise it to exactly what we wanted. She was lovely to meet and very organised and we love her work too.
Edit: One of the reasons we chose her is that she has worked for the big photographic houses in the past, Blumenthal, Milk and Honey etc so we were able to get the experience without the astronomical price
