Trouble setting the date

I thought I had a good idea of when we wanted the wedding (April 2012) enough time for me to slowly & comfortably lose some weight, not so long that we’re engaged forever, cooler weather (we both hate the heat), non peak wedding season.

But I was reading in a local bridal mag last night that April is one of the wettest months of the year (there is like a 65% chance of rain) & I was planning a beautiful outdoor ceremony & reception.

It is driving me mad because I honestly can’t think of another month that doesn’t stuff something up for us & I have my heart set on being outdoors at the very least for the ceremony.

A friend of a friend has just purchased the most perfect country club venue & says we can use it any day we want as they haven’t any bookings yet (for free! hoorah!) I was planning the ceremony overlooking the lake but they do also have an open sided chapel type building in case it rains a bit & there is a reception hall (it is being renovated as it is pretty daggy) so should I just suck it up & save the date or should I change it?

On the plus side I do love rainy day wedding photos, they’re so beautiful & moody.

While there might be more chance it will rain in April, there is a risk of rain for an outdoor wedding any time of the year! We are having an outdoor ceremony at the start of November (2011) and while I would love it being outdoors we have two back up plans at the venue just in case. You could also look into hiring a marquee in case of wet weather so you can still be outside for the ceremony no matter what?

last summer, we had some really hot days, but it also raind, so i dont think time of year matters with that one, and  im planning my wedding for July, im also anticipating the rain and have bought everyone in the bridal party umbrella’s, their all small and black, then we have one big blue one for me and my ‘husband’, and i think that even if it doesnt rain id like a few photo’s using them, my wedding is indoors, but i have been to some in winter where there was a glass roofed ritunder, and that had a nice effect in the rain, you organise something outside thats still under cover just in case, but im more concerened about wind than rain

Rain can happen any time of the year so just go for the date you have in mind and hope for the best (have a back up plan just in case). Look on the up side: rain on the wedding day is good luck, and you said yourself you like rainy day wedding photos.
