Hi Andrea,
I am having my wedding in Phuket in April 2011 and I am so excited. I was a little nervous about having correspondance on such a HUGE event of my life organised through email but it has been made so easy with our venue and wedding planner. We are getting married at the Katathani in Phuket. Our wedding co-ordinator is FABULOUS!!! Quick with the emails and great at organising extra bits and pieces. You can choose from different packages and swap and change parts to suit your special day.
Good luck with it all. I know that the Erdding co-ordinator is coming to Australia next month to do some meet and greets… Maybe you could make an appointment just to see what it is like????
Cheers

Hi there,
We have also decided to get married in Koh Samui August 2011, I would appreciate if anyone has a wedding planner. We are having problems in choosing between the different resorts as they are all beautiful. We are reading up on what the different wedding packages are on offer, it is just lucky i have a bit of time up my sleeves.

I am also getting married in Thailand. We were going to use http://www.weddingdestinations.com.au but ended up trying it ourselves- it’s tiring and full on and we contacted a lot of resorts- we didn’t really want Phuket as we are getting married in December and at peak season we wanted to be somewhere with not so many tourists and more private… In ended up being either Koh Smaui or Krabi. We looked on Trip Advisor for all of the best resorts, went to their web pages and looked at their wedding packages and then just started emailing. We’ve gotten a few responses. Some we’re still waiting on over 12 days later, so we’ve knixed them from the choices already… What it comes down to for us is cost and the different options they can provide… we want a Western style wedding, The one pain is if you want it to be legal it means you’re paying a lot more money then getting it done at a registry office here in Australia and even though you may only have to be in Bangkok 1-2 days max, you then are just at your resort for longer, which can be quite expensive accomodation wise.
We’ve narrowed our choices down to Silavadee (very good at getting back to you, very flexible and always happy to help) or Rocky’s (funny name for a Thai place, but now owned by some Dutch/UK people). Zazen was pretty good, but they didn’t have the dates we wanted available.
Just also don’t be afraid to ask for what you want, make sure to find out about accomodation packages for both you and your guests, look for hidden costs, it definitely helps if the resort has a wedding planner as well!!
Good luck!

Hi there,
I am getting married in Samui in June this year at Zazen. I would recommend possibly taking a holiday to thailand to inspect all the resorts, they look a lot different in real life than they do on the websites. A lot of the websites have pictures that were taken a long time ago and are not at all how they apear now. Also you want to know where it is on the island exactly, how far away it is from everything etc and what other accomodation is around for your guests if they do not want to stay at your chosen resort. For instance, Rocky’s is absolutely beautiful but it is built on a hill side so there are loads and loads of steep steps to be able to get to your room or anywhere else. Also it is the other side of the island so there is not much else around there accom wise or entertainment wise.
Getting a wedding planner is lovely but costly. Most resorts in fact all good resorts will have a wedding planner there which is included in your costs and much more convenient when you want to negotiate anything.
Obviously it is not always convenient to be able to ttake a holiday to thailand and check out the venue, in this instance I would do a lot of reserach for reviews etc on anything you are considering and ring the resort and talk to them rather than emailing as they are not the best in email communications but better at reviewing things over the phone even if they do not speak great english.
most of all have fun!
