HELP! we are only having a small wedding with a very tight budget with all our close friends and imidiate family its about 60 people (not including the bridal party), so i said to both my parents, and the in-laws that if they want all the extended family we never see to come to our wedding then our parents can pay for them (obviously i put it a little more polite than this) and they were more than happy with that, my MIL has never been very reliable when it comes to money and has borrowed numerous amounts from us over the years and so i dont think she can actually come up with the money and now i’ve found the perfect venue for our price range, but it can only fit 80 people comfortably and cram in up to 100 but how can i go back on what i said and tell them that the rest of the family just cant come? im still looking at other venues for a bigger place around the same price but in the end it will cost us more

Be Honest. Let them know that you have looked at bigger venues but you absolutely love this place and it can only fit 80-100 guests. Make sure you let them know that you are sorry but you just cant fit them all in. If you are on a budget and you cannot afford a bigger place then this is your strongest argument. At the end of the day, this is your special day and if you are paying for it then you get the final say. Dont try to cram in extra people to keep the MIL or MOB happy as all you will end up doing is upsetting guests on the day as they wont be able to move comfortably.

In this instance, honestly really is the best policy. Goodluck!
