Honeymoons & destination weddings

My Fiance and I would love to go to Singapore foe our Honeymoon. Anyone know of any great Hotels and exciting tourist destinations to go see while there?

We just got back from Singapore last week. Definitely recommend Wangz Hotel. It’s in a bit of an odd location, but clean, modern rooms, a great rooftop deck, and well priced. It’s 5 mins walk from Outram Rd station and there’s a bus stop across the road.

When you get there, get an EZ-Link card – it’s $15 with $10 included travel credit – they work on trains and buses. Definitely saves $$$.

We LOVED Singapore Zoo, and Clarke Quay (check out Coriander Leaf restaurant). And there’s a new shopping mall called Marina Bay Sands which is definitely worth a visit. At the top of the Marina Bay Sounds hotel (across the road from the mall) is a huge lookout area. It’s SP$20pp but worth it for the city views.

Little India is worth a visit for fab Indian food and jewellery / cheap bracelets. Chinatown we didn’t get to but is also a good spot to go.

Shopping wise there is Ion Mall on Orchard road, and Paragon – plus LOTS of little malls dotted about the place. For your fiance, there’s a technology mall near Raffles Hotel station. I didn’t go, but my husband loved the Singapore Museum – lots of social and historic exhibits.

And on the topic of Raffles – be prepared to pay SP$25 for a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar. It’s SP$20 for a beer too -  but it’s a fun spot for one drink and to soak up the atmosphere of the iconic bar.

If you buy anything over $100, you can claim back the tax at the airport, so make sure you ask for a Tax Refund Scheme receipt when you buy.
