Hi girls,
I’m getting married in December this year and am having trouble finding a reception venue. We’d really like it to be in the inner city somewhere , and we only need to accomodate about 40 guests. Alot of places we’ve looked at have great wedding packages but do minimum numbers.Any suggestions please?? I’m starting to panic!

I’m not in Sydney, but I know the Adelaide Library has a smaller room (35 max) as a friend deliberatly chose it to keep numbers down.
Have a look at cultural institutions (library, museum, botanic gardens etc) and the like and see if they have smaller rooms. Boutique hotels may have a smaller function room than larger ones, too.

Hi Bec,
Don’t panic, try looking at some Dockside Group venues ASAP http://www.docksidegroup.com.au/top/weddings
We are getting married at Star Room in March which is in the IMAX complex in Darling Harbour. We had our first date at Italian Village which is also one of their venues and I am pretty sure a few of their smaller venues (eg. Italian Village, Wolfies) would cater to 40 guests. We had dinner at Wolfies the other month and the food was absolutely amazing!!!
Good luck, I hope you find somewhere soon!

If you want somewhere to combine ceremony, dressing room, reception & accomodation, have a look at Noonaweena, in Kulnura on the Central Coast. It is so beautiful. It was supposed to be our wedding venue, but due to limited accomodation & both families wanted to stay there, we had to pull the plug on the idea. One of my favourite wedding choices though. We have looked everywhere from the Hunter Valley (where I’m from), the Central Coast (where the groom is from), Sydney (where we live), Wollongong, and even destination wedding, and Noonaweena was still our pick.
