Reception programs?

so FH and i thought reception programs would be a good idea since we dont hav an MC or DJ, and it would possibly cut out some of the risk of drunk family members doing speeches that we just dont need or want, but that can never be controlled i spose, anyway neither of us have been to a wedding in quite a while and we know all the sorts of things that are ment to happen but no idea what order, the only thing we know is what time the entree and mains are coming out (having out cake for desert) can anyone give me a quick run down of what order things should be in? just so i have an idea because we really have none lol

Hi Viv
We’re planning on something pretty similar to Gabbie. We’re just breaking up the speeches cause my crew will chat for a while !
6.00 – 6.30 Canapes
6.30 – 6.45 Guests seat / Welcome speech / housekeeping rules
6.45 – 7.00 Bridal party entrance & Bridal Waltz*
7.00 – 7.40 Entree served / cleared
7.40 – 8.00 Speeches – Father of the Bride (first if hosting), Father of the Groom
8.00 - 8.40 Main course served / cleared
8.40 – 9.00 Speeches – Best Man / Bridesmaid / Couple thank yous
9.00 – 9.05 Cut the cake (if cake is dessert though, will have to be cut after entree)
9.05 – 9.30 Dessert served / cleared
11.00 ish Cake + tea / coffee
11.45 ish Goodbyes + close
Traditionally I think the bridal waltz is just before you say goodbyes and leave, but I’ve been to a few where the couple get it out of the way and then can relax – which I like !
Goodluck with the planning
xx
