No Bridal Dance…
Wed 12 May 2010 07:20AM posts 9
We’re worried about looking stupid shuffling around on the floor for 3 and a half minutes, so we’d rather not do a first dance.
We worried though that without this shuffling, people won’t realise that’s their cue to get up on the dance floor.
Has anyone been to a wedding where there was no bridal dance..?

Ummm no i haven’t yet! LOL! FH and I aren’t dancers, but we’re doing the first dance thing, albeit BRIEFLY! I have given instructions to my BMs to come up at a set point in the first dance, and encourage everyone to come up and join us!

We’re not having a bridal dance either! But so that people know when it’s time to dance, I’ve roped a few of the oldies into getting it started (cause the 50-60 range tend to know how to boogie….even if it’s badly….as that’s what they did on dates!) My mum and dad can jive a bit, so they are gonna get up with my BM and her hubby as my BM is a dancer and her other half moves well….we figure that will give people the idea

Sounds like we’ll have to have a dance then, or maybe hire your jive dancin’ guests LaceyJ ;) :P
DJ said he can announce it, turn up the music… Hmmm, might have to think of a song and do the shuffle

We are not having a first dance… FH flat out refuses (he’s shy, Im the crazy one lol) and I’m OK with that I don’t want him to do anything he doesn’t want too.
I figure its our wedding and we can do what we want, I plan on having the MC or DJ simply state that the bride and groom will not be having a solo first dance but instead want everyone to get up and dance together and enjoy the night

FH and I are also not planning to have a Bridal dance. But we’re still stuck at ideas on what to do since we want to have something as a “first” to do.

I didn’t have a dance… we planned on having one, but never got the chance of doing it…My husband and I had our 3 and a half minutes, with an ipod and danced around the langham bathroom.. it was amazing!

I’ve been to 2 weddings where there was no first dance and I didn’t really notice that it was missing. it depends on the style of the wedding. one of the weddings didn’t have any music though which I thought was weird.

i’ve been to a few now, the cue to dance normally comes with the end of the speeches! Make them earlier in the night (also avoids a drunk BM!) Get you band/dj to announce that the bride and groom would love everyone to join them on the dance floor!Thats what we are doing
It worked for my MOH, get the bridal party to help out and grab people to dance
