Ceremony & reception details

Hey Knotties,

Have really enjoyed reading the forums so far, and now I have something I hope you can help me with.

We’re getting married on Hamilton Island. It is just us, no guests, HIW are providing witnesses for us. We have pretty well settled on getting married on the beach, but are heading over next week for a couple of days to lock it all in.

Our wedding coordinator says to provide music for the ceremony, and for the DVD that the videographer is making for us (they asked for up to 10 songs!!), but we don’t know what type of music to play! I’m worried it might seem weird with just us, the celebrant and our witnesses, playing music. I’m not even sure I want to walk down the aisle as such.

We also have very different musical tastes. I’m an alternative, indie kind of girl and FH is a Top 40 kind of guy with leanings toward dance music. We will struggle to agree on one song, let alone 10!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

My other half is very indie (current & retro) and i’m into r&b (but also a classical singer)….and he wants The Cure.  Hmmm…….

We’ve reached a compromise – we found a fabulous cover of the cure song he wants that newer and a bit more me.  We’ve also done this with the first dance as I wanted something really out there and FH didn’t…..we’ve found a ben folds cover of a really explicit snoop dog song   …. thankfully the music sounds gorgeous and you can barely hear the lyrics.  And when you do hear the lyrics, it’s a little fun

oh….and my boss recently got marry on Hamilton Island.  Make sure you do pick something, even if you are a bit unsure…..otherwise you may end up like her and get stuck with Brian Adams.
