Motivation…..where are you?

I need new ideas for motivation, Fi and I started at our local gym and I am starting to let the procrastination and excuses creep back in.

I used to imagine all of the clothes I was going to wear once I lost the weight and that would motivate me to step it up onthe treadmill, I just have to get there first.

Any tips?

Set some goals. I was always VERY unmotivated at anything, until I agreed to do a run in a corporate triathlon (which is next weekend – arg!). As I knew I now had to look good in front of my peers, I knew I had to step it up. I didn’t want to let the team down or look stupid/unfit etc.

Maybe join up to do something in 3 – 6 months like a triathlon/charity run etc and use that as your goal?

I had my goal weight set for about 50kg and I got down to about 53…. But I’ve let myself creep back up to 56kg because of all the extra shifts I’ve been getting at work. I’m walking all day every day, but not getting the sleep I need because I’m so stressed and/or there is barely enough time between shifts. I also admittedly started skipping out on breakfast because we were out of milk or cereal and I was too tired to get any more. I was also working out every day with the help of wii fit but I stopped doing that too…. I’m really dissapointed in myself as I’d set my goal at Christmas and I had until next week to lose it. I think I’ll give myself another month or 2 now and just hope for the best. I need to start trying on dresses soon!

i am in the same predicament – with lack of motivation…. i was reading on pinterest about putting a dollar in a jar each time you did a workout / or some form of physical activity i.e. gardening, mowing the lawn etc…. and that way you can aim for quantity of workout/exercise than for the weight you’ve lost…. get to $50 in the jar – that’s an accomplishment and then you can treat yourself to something like a massage or manipedi or such….

I find counting the weight that you want to lose is a bit of a deterrant as it can be hard to see any difference – I figured that maybe if I count each workout – it’ll be something tangible that will keep me going….

Just an idea….

that’s a great idea Walker. I did a similar thing when I quit smoking, for each packet that I didn’t buy, I put that money into a jar.

The bonus with doing this, is that when I reach my goal, I’ll some money put away to buy new clothing (again)

A good idea I’ve found that works is to take a picture of yourself now and to look at it each time you feel the motivation slipping :)

Thanks sarah-louise, I have started doing this and then I took one of myself a couple of days ago (three months after the first pic) and only saw slight change in my body shape. I think the biggest thing I need to focus on is loving myself, not getting disappointed when things don’t happen and sticking with it

I was like you and only a few weeks till my wedding :) But I found this amazing company called Ditch The Diet, I think it is ditchthediet.com.au and they have a forum that is monitored and interactive and my god I could not have lost 15kgs without them 5 to go :)
There are other girls on there too that are getting married and the people that lead this page are amazing, girls are wonderful and I even get emails replied to about anything that I need like straight away.
It is hard as there is so damn much to organise but this is definitely the best $60 bucks I have ever spent :)

Check it out x
