We are getting married on May 8, 2011. Summer is over and the weather will be fresh but not yet cold and the rain should be gone also. Not to mention the beautiful Autumn Colours!

We’re getting married May 27, 2011. We really had no choice in the date, it is our 5 year anniversary and it also happens to fall on a Friday. If we wanted a saturday we would have to wait for 2012 and i’m not waiting another year to get married! (From the time we got engaged to the time we get married is approx. 2 and a half years)
When did you start booking? I’ve already booked the reception, celebrant and ceremony venue. I think we’ve found the photographer but yet to book.

My fiance and I are getting married May 7th also. Plenty of time to go but we have just booked a ceremony/reception venue and that’s all so far. Very excited… but after we book a celebrant I’ll be content to leave the planning for a while!
I love jewel tones for bridesmaid dresses/colour theme especially when it could be overcast weather (should stand out nicely against a darker sky). At the moment I like a dark red or dark purple.

We know we want to get married on a Friday in May, but the venue we’ve decided on is available any Friday so having trouble picking one… I worry the 6th could eventually double up with Mother’s Day (why not keep 2 holidays/excuses for breakfast in bed!), the 13th would be asking for trouble which leaves the 20th and the 27th.
Only problem is, we’re getting married in Wellington, New Zealand where the later it is the more likely the weather will turn to crap. Thankfully the venue has everything all in one building – (deconsecrated) chapel above a large lobby and ballroom downstairs.
Ideas? I’m leaning towards 20th May, maybe?

Kiwafruit, the 6th should never coincide with Mother’s Day as Mother’s Day always falls on the second Sunday in May. We were worried about this after we had booked the 7th… but the chance is still quite small. We were more worried about flowers for the wedding (and if prices would be higher!!) than chances for breakfast in bed
So any choice you make should be fine. If everything is inside (chapel/ballroom/etc) you should also be fine for weather. If it does rain, then you should consider the old saying that rain is lucky!!! Besides I think it would be a good excuse to buy a really big, pretty umbrella/parasol. Good luck for your wedding plans!

HTB and I are getting married on the 28th of May 2011.The date is a Saturday in the middle of footy season(it was either May or September when grandfinals are on) and is between our birthdays. Our anniversary is in February but we prefer cooler weather.
Have booked and made deposits on Church and reception venue(all on one site), celebrant, photographer, car, caterer. We arent having attendants apart from a ring bearer and junior bridesmaid.
Have sent save the date magnets to overseas guests and family and have all the invite papers and embellishments bought and ready to be made.
Luke has picked his suit but we havent bought it yet.
Im being indecisive about my dress but have given myself til July to be organised.Im going to start looking for some cute gumboots in case of rain!
Shelaylie- I was told May is a good time for flowers because most hot houses have grown them for mothers day and there will be lots of variety and if you’re in Sydney you could go to the flower markets and save a fortune!!Im planning on doing my bouquet and other arrangements. Purple sounds nice for bridesmaids as it will contrast against any Autumn foliage.

My wedding is on the 21st May 2011. Got most of the big things worked out (dress, venues, photographer…) but am currently struggling with finding a celebrant.
We’re pretty low key people so the idea of a flowery, soppy ceremony – even if it’s about us – is pretty off putting. As much as I explain it to the celebrants we’ve met, I’m never truly sure if they ‘get’ this and won’t slip in something that will make me vomit in my mouth.

We’ve already had a looooong meeting with our celebrant after looking on the net for readings, poems etc.He suggested a few things but it was all our choice.
If you and your fiance have a look online there are heaps of bits and pieces and then you’re armed with what you want and what you can imagine being able to say on the day!
