Hi Ladies
I very recently got engaged and it’s the best feeling in the world.
I am really short and therefore suit a smaller frame. I used to run a lot but with family arguing the stress went up and so did my weight. I used to be a very small eater but going out with my boyfriend i found myself eating larger portions and working out less. We are very very happy but in the space of 3 years ive put on 20kilos (going from my smallest size to my largest which im currently at)
considering my smallest weight was 52 (which was a healthy weight for my height) 20 kilos was almost half of my body weight that ive put on
For the first time in my life i feel really uncomfortable with my weight and am dreading dress shopping! we are aiming for a wedding in 12 months so i want to get back to 52 in 12 months time and do it slowly so that I am bringing my fitness up with me.
However i want to loose 10 in 6 months so that i feel comfortable dress shopping.
Currently ive set myself a goal for the next two weeks of doing consistent exercise, eating smaller portions, and healthier foods. sugar and bread are out all weekdays, and i am allowed one on each weekend day if im craving.
Each week day i need to do at least 1 hour of combined exercise (some in the morning some at night) i love workout dvd’s and have dogs so i like to walk them too.
breakies are eggs or cereal not both, soups for lunches and tuna and salad (or lamb or chicken if im hungrier) if i do get hungry i snack on small portions of fruit or vegie sticks (i love cucumber) the key is not to starve myself otherwise i end up binging.
let me know if youd like to join my journey would be good to have someone to be accountable to!

Just wanted to say good luck and that with your time frame 20 kilos is very doable (usually it is suggested that people aim for 1 kg per week).
If you don’t find anyone interested on here why not go and speak to your local neighbourhood house/communtuy centre coordinator and maybe post a flyer seeking other brides to join you on your fitness journey.
Have fun and don’t let it stress you too much- your fiance loves you for who you are not what you look like and everyone looks beautiful on their wedding day regardless!

I agree with j_jaye, try not to stress about it too much!
I’d be happy to help, although I am 8 months out from my wedding so I am madly trying to loose anything.
Let me know.

Thanks j_jaye
I really appreciate your positive feedback! you are absolutely right, donald actually would love me at any size,
for me its more about how i feel and i just feel unfit. I have also signed up to the couch to 5k run and will be starting tomorrow which im very excited about having been a runner!
I have a healthy respect for my body and do want to loose the weight in a healthy time period so thank you for confirming this too i was a bit unsure!
Thanks MissLynda,
Would love to follow along and find out how/what your doing! its still a bit daunting at the moment!

Wow! I tried the CT5K but couldn’t keep it up (I’m not a runner at all) and stopped after a few weeks.
My FI and I started training together, we hired a PT who sees us both at the same time and it awesome to have each other there as motivation (also a little, harmless competition) we are doing a lot of weight training to strengthen ourselves and cardio every other day.
She also recommended we look at the Paleo diet, basically it’s about eating like our ancestors http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleolithic_diet this about sums it up. I have some awesome recipes for no oat oatmeal, flaxseed foccacia and a really nice sweet (if you’re a sweet tooth like me) if you like, you can contact me through my US Knot account my username over there is RegallyBlonde

heey all! sorry its taken me so long to reply thought id do an update
i lost 3 kilos but got the flu really bad and even though i wasnt eating much i put the 3 kilos back on – only thing i can put it down to was i was drinking a lot of honey drinks for my throat. But thats ok! ive now joined harold holt gym (34 dollars per fortnight for gym, sauna, spa, pools, classes and regular fitness evaluations with a PT) pretty amazing. Going for my first gym session tonight- feeling a bit crap with it being that time of month but need to get in the swing! aiming to go for an hour 5 nights a week.
My brother who is also getting married very soon- this september is doing the no sugar diet and has lost about 8 kilos – jsut realising sugars in everything has made us prepare our own meals, vegies and meat.
Im a bit more relaxed about it i have to admit. But i did find my ddress! I bought it to fit me now and love how it looks so thats one stress gone – id still like to loose the weight for health reasons.

So how are you going 6 months on? I’m trying to get to 69kg by April which is when I want to go dress shopping. Last year I went from 81 (heaviest I’ve ever been) to 72, but I put a little bit on again this year and went back up to 78. My only problem is that I’ve hit a plateau and I’m finding it very hard. I’m doing all the right things but the scales aren’t really showing it. I am building muscle though so that could be why. Also I’ve started going to a personal trainer and she said that it can take 68 days for your body to show any big improvements so she thinks that in another month I will notice a real difference, so that’s what keeps me going! I think I also need to eat more regularly too because I work as a casual relief teacher so I eat really well on days that I’m not working but when I get called in I often skip breakfast and have a piece of fruit and a cup of tea for lunch, then when I get home I’m starving and will eat a sandwich and pick at things in the cupboard or fridge until dinner time.
