Is $150 too much for a hens night?

Thu 9 Sep 2010 20:02PM posts 9

My sister (my moh) is organising my hens night. She’s planning a two night weekend away including accommodation (in a beautiful beach house with swimming pool), all meals and activities/games etc included.

Is this too much?

One of my friends asked me tonight about the hens night and when i told her the likely cost she said it a bit pricey for a hens night. I thought it was quite reasonable for a whole weekend.

I’m a little peeved cause i just attended this friends fancy dress party for her 30th and paid more than that to hire a costume and wig and get my makeup done professionally (we got it done together). We than had to pay for our drinks all night! And that’s for one night….not a whole weekend away. I was a bit annoyed.

Am i being unreasonable?

I think 150 sounds like a bargain for a weekend away!

Your hens night/weekend sounds amazing and you should definately do it.

If your friend doesnt want to spend that much then she doesnt have to come, perhaps you could just go out for a few drinks or organise a lunch or something like that for another day for anyone who cant make it to your weekend.

Its your night, do what you want I think your MOH has done a great job organising such a good weekend for you, hope you have a great time!

ummm no! that sounds fantastic! TWO nights accom, meals and entertainment! sounds great to me!

i’m having two hen’s nights – one is costing people $80 p person, which covers dinner, drinks and entry to a club and the other i think is about $60 for a treasure hunt and dinner.

im charging 150 for a weekend its all drinks, pole dancing, double decker party bus, a river cruise filled with topless waiters and strippers and meals and accom for weekend. Its not till november but we told people to rsvp we need a 50 deposit and the finalamount is due the end of the month, even though its still a bit stressful for me and my BM’s chasing up money, it will all be paid for well beforehand, and nobody has the excuse that ‘money is a bit tight at the moment’ i have heard it all!!! If you give them the instalment option it does not seem like alot at all :)

for a weekend away that is incredibly cheap! I’d be more than happy to pay that.

I think $150 is  a great price for what you’re getting, but for some it will be too much money, no matter what it pays for. I think the cost should reflect the people invited. I was MOH for my MOH last year and I organised a $70 night, but even that was more expensive than I would have liked considering many of her friends were still at uni and getting by on CentreLink or Maccas wages. But I would think your 30yo friend who has her own expensive parties ought to be a bit more flexible!

Perhaps your MOH could come up with an option to stay for one night or just the day?

Chezza..how are you managing to do all those things and only charge $150? That’s fantastic!

$150 is awesome for a full weekend of fun! My only suggestion is if you think people might have issues with the money, try to give them plenty of notice so they can save if they need to.
