so we are around six months out and everyone keeps telling me we are very organised because we have the celebrant, venue, reception venue, and photographer. I am freaking out thinking they must be crazy i haven’t even looked at dresses yet, so i just wanted to know how far until your wedding and how much planning have you done?

I’m sitting at just over 5 months until the big day. The reception venue is booked, as is the ceremony venue, hairdresser, makeup artist, cake maker and photographer…. pretty much everything apart from the boys suits…

My dress is already ordered and i’d suggest you do a dress shop shortly – my dress will take approx 5 months to get delivered

I’m like you….i had the big stuff done early (the venue was booked 13 months in advance, just to get it off our plate!).

As at today, the wedding is 5 weeks away….and I still don’t have a corset, my dress won’t be made for another 3 weeks and FH doesn’t have a wedding band.

But at this late stage, it’s amazing how quickly stuff actually gets done!  Today my bridesmaid and I pulled out all the stops (with our mum’s in tow).  We’ve bought bridesmaid dress, mother of bride (and mother of bridesmaid) dresses, FH went out and got suits and shirts, we all chipped in and finished bonbonierre before hitting the shops….and right now FH is on eBay buying himself a titanium wedding band!

Bronzilla’s right – dresses need to be ordered 5-6 months if you are getting them in through a bridal boutique.  Otherwise you can get one off the rack or made later on. Don’t stress too much…..i guarantee it will all fall into place in the last couple of weeks!

At Last

I am now 5 weeks out from our wedding and the only think we have left is the seating plan place cards and printing of ceremony programs.  Dress’s are being altered  as we speak.

I only really started planning in November last year as original our wedding was slated for march 2011 but due to family illness etc we brought everything forward cutting 9 months of the prepartion time.

I would definately be ordering dress’s ASAP as the do take forever to come through originally I was told 4 months but my dress ended up taking 5 and that was with putting a rush on it when it didn’t come in on the original date.

Thinks do happen quickly but I would recommend setting a side some time and doing a to do list that way you wont forget anything.  Be to organised is a blessing as in the last few weeks it allows you to take a step back and breath.

Good Luck

Im just over 12 months away and i know i have alot organised but for me, this is great. It will help the O.C.D :)

The church is booked as is the reception venue, cars, photographer and florist. I have my dress and shoes, the bridesmaids dreses and shoes, our wedding bands and stationary. Im in the process of chosing our centerpieces and arranging the cake.

We have found the place we are hiring the boys suits from, however will wait until March next year. This is when the girls will have their final dress fittings and the flower girls and page boys attire will be ordered too.

Hair and makeup is taken care of thanks to myself and my bridal party, we have 2 make up artist and a hairdresser, so i figure why add the extra expense when we can do it ourselves.

I think there is no harm in being organised!

I got engaged about 4 months ago and the wedding is at the end of August..

The weekend I got engaged, I had my dress, my bridesmide dress and flower girls dresses. the following weekend I had both venues for the cemerony and reception booked… I also have my hair and make up artist booked… my photographer, celebrant,  cup cake/slicing cake maker, flowers booked and suits organised… The only thing I need to do now is really pay it all off…and sort out my underwear and our first night somewhere…. So I’m lucky everything has falled into place… now I just have to hope that my FH gets his divorce through, but thats out of my hands… and a whole other issue….

good luck with your special day ladies!

Nicki – i feel your pain!!  My FH rang births, deaths and marriages to get a copy of his divorce certificate……only to find that the paperwork had been incomplete when lodged by his then wife and so never processed!!!  Suffice it to say a few cranky conversations followed and then a phonecall and cheque to a lovely lawyer who sorted it all out …..trust a man not to make sure he was actually divorced though!  :)

I’m getting married in March 2012. Have booked my photographer, videographer, venue and ceremony already. Will be booking my band and celebrant in the coming months. My plan is to have all the big stuff under wraps a year before, so I can focus on the nitty gritty little things in the last 12 months. I was hoping to marry in November 2011 but because of my extra ordinary imagination, my plans wouldn’t work unless we moved the date. Never the less, it’s completely worth it 110% :D

Tammy – at 6 months we were like you, so organised and no stress, I’m an organisation queen and this is just a bigger party than we’ve organised before :P   Everyone was impressed and I was so calm and collected :)

It’s less than 3 months away now and I realise I don’t have my shoes (fitting in 2 weeks time), haven’t picked the cake supplier and BM dresses not in yet (didn’t get ordered the first time in January… should be in this month…).

Hairdresser for the girls has pulled out due to not thinking it is worthwhile travelling to our house for two lots of hair :-/  So, re-organising that last minute.

Be organised, because otherwise, things like the above throw you a curve ball and you have to deal with them ASAP :P

Good luck ladies x

We have been engaged for 7 years now (can’t rush these things! lol) anyway we have come to the point where we are hoping to set a date, we have started the savings fund and are thinking maybe Jan 2012… I haven’t organised anything yet, once I get some money in the bank I was going to go to some wedding expos at the end of the year and hopefully book a venue at the end of the year and then go from there.
