How did you pick your date?

I was really struggling to pick a date in 2013. All of the significant Saturdays seemed to be in 2014. It wasn’t until my Wednesday phone call to Mum yesterday that she mentioned it was her anniversary and surely enough, March the 2nd in 2013 is a Saturday!!!! So excited! How did everyone else pick their dates? Around the weather? Venue availability? Special date? Just at random?

Hi,
I booked our date purely based on the availability of our amazing venue. We are having our ceremony & reception at the one place. Fell in love as soon as I saw it. I would have booked it even if it was mid winter, freezing and rainy
Enjoy

We picked a date that allowed a summer wedding and a Northern Hemisphere ski honeymoon. Also not to clash with Christmas (or to be so soon after that I would have a nervous breakdown organising the wedding). The exact date 12/02/12 was for its symmetry.

Hi,
there was a couple of reasons why we chose our date, 29/09/2012. For one we wanted two years to save the cash so we wouldnt be in debt from the wedding. Secondly we wanted to find a time that had the least chance of rain, and september is the dryest month in qld (well on average anyway…not doubt it will probably rain anyway!). Also the temperature is nice at that time of year, mid 20s. We also knew we wanted a saturday. And we wanted it to fit in with school holidays (as Im in my last year of teacher training) so that we would have to take more time of work than we had to. We will take a mini break straight after the wedding and a longer honeymoon in december/january.
Nothing “special” about our date, just worked with what we wanted. And our date was free!
Jojo x

We struggled alot picking a date as my FH’s brother was planning on getting married in November and we couldn’t put it close to his and one of my bridesmaid is going over seas mid January so we only had a couple of weeks that were available to us. FH’s brother actually moved their date to October due to availability of their venue which gave us more leg room but we still couldn’t pick a date. The venues were suggesting friday weddings as a cheaper alternative and we liked that options (most of our guests are from close by so we saw no issue with that). We picked out 2 dates the 9/12/11 and 6/1/12. We couldn’t decide, the 9th is our four year anniversary from when we started dating but the 6th was after christmas and the chaos that comes with that. I talked to my mother and she pointed out a defining fact, my father is a fire fighter and January is not exactly a fantastic time of year of him (he missed my brothers first 6 birthdays, which is early jan, due to being away fighting fires). So its settle, on the 9th of Decemeber 2011 I marry a wonderful man and I couldn’t be happier

We originally chose 21/11/12 because it would be our 7year anniversary- and a totally symmetrical date that looks awesome. But, thats peak time, so we changed it to 6months ahead- 21 May 2012. However, its freezing here in ACT now so May next year will be horribly cold too….SO, now we are looking at 21st November this year, our 6 year anniversary… SIGH.. Such a hard choice to choose a date and stick with it!

We had always wanted to get married on our anniversary. We really wanted to get married next year on that date but it falls on a Monday, so we decided to take the plunge and get married on our 5 year anniversary this year (22.10.2011)

Well my birthday is 2 days before Christmas, so I refused to share our wedding anniversary with anything, luckily for me, FH is a twin, so he understood hehe. Jan is too hot here, Feb is my brothers birthday, August is his birthday, April is my Mums and May is my Dads. So that did limit our months, plus we didn’t want rain, so that eliminated half of the end of the year, which left March. We chose the 3rd, because it ended up 03.03.12. The weather was beautiful this year, so fingers crossed it will be gorgeous next year!!

We only just set a date today and I feel like I’ve gotten engaged all over again!
We chose 6 October 2012, as I am a school teacher and that is the middle weekend of the holidays. It gives me a week to come to my location (we live in ACT, getting married in QLD), get married and have a week for honeymoon etc. I’ll probably end up taking more time off the following term, but it works for us. Also, it is spring and my fiance refuses to get married in the summer and I refuse to get married in the winter (he hates heat, I hate cold!) so we thought spring was our safest option!
We have contingency plans in case venues etc aren’t available, but since I don’t have my heart set on a particular reception venue (Church is ok) then I think we’ll be alright!
Isn’t it exciting girls?!
