Guest list help

So I’m finally at the stage where we are finalising our guest list for the invitations but we’re undecided about 1 guest.

We’re not really close, but when we do see each we have a good time and enjoy each other’s company. We have also known each other since we were 16. The only little dilemma I’m having is that he’s very close to another friend but we’ve decided we don’t want to invite the second friend to our wedding.

I kind of feel like it’s bad form to invite one and not the other but we have already made a definite choice not to invite the other friend since we’re not as close.

Should I just bite the bullet and invite the first friend and the other will just have to deal with it? We are also getting to the stage where inviting the second friend (plus his wife) will put us over our budget.

Any advice you could give me on the ettiquette for this would be appreciated.

Whatever you do don ot over invite! If you go over budget and get a 100% guest list acceptance you will be putting a lot of stress on yourselves. Most budgets will blow out anyway so it is advisable to not put any extra stress on it that can be controlled!

As for the friend if you really want them there then invite them. The other non-invited friend should not factor into your decision. Yes the non-invited one might be hurt for 20 mins but they will move on and get over it and if they don’t then they weren’t much of a friend.

Good luck

Thanks J_Jaye! You are always so helpful. I think in the back of mind I knew that, but I think weddings can make you go a little crazy. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t being completely unreasonable.

Aww shucks :)

I think weddings just make us over think and complicate things!

Don’t worry everyone stresses out about something- mine was the food!
