I know I really shouldn’t whinge because I have an excellent fella who wants to be involved in the wedding… BUT I’ve had to argue the point to get a couple of the things I actually want in our wedding… and it kinda sucks…

Before we got engaged (I’ve never really wanted to get married but we’ve been together 6 years, own a house together and neither of seem to be going anywhere…) we spoke about getting married and I made the point quite clear that I’d like to have eloped to somewhere like Fiji - got video came back had a party and showed everyone the footage.

Somewhere along the line we’ve gotten engaged and are now having a wedding in QLD with something like 60 guests bridesmaids and everything… Not quite my idea of a perfect wedding but OK.

I did choose the venue because there was no way I was getting married in the town that we live. But he’s chosen just about everything else.

Anyway – I wanted our dog in the bridal party – and had to whinge and whine until he agreed. Then I had to whinge and whine again just to get a $50 tails jacket and tie. The fella reckons it was a waste of money and the dog will look more dressed than the rest of us.

The only other thing I wanted was fish in bowls on the tables – which he’s knocked on the head.

Last night I found some Bride and Groom toilet paper on e-bay and thought it was pretty cool. (i have a warped sense of humour – wiping your rear on the bride and groom just takes my fancy!!) but was told $20 for a couple of rolls of toilet paper was a waste of money. Which admittedly – it probably is. But for $20 why not just humour me????

I HAVE gotten my way on a couple of other things… but I HAVE had to throw a tanty to get it. Fella wants to be very traditional and I just don’t believe in the traditional stuff.

But basically – I think spending 20 grand on a wedding is a waste of money – but he wants it. So we’ll do it.

It’s great that he’s involved in the planning. I love that. But I just wish I kinda was too…..

Obviously compromise is key to the process.

If you both feel passionately about two different ideas and wont budge, have a trade off.

Its better to have something that atleast one of you loves, then a whole bunch of things that were never really wanted by either of you.

The toilet paper, while it is funny to me. Its probably a great gift one of your bridesmaids could give you. Then again.. theres the argument that you might need it to pick up the dog poo off the dancefloor..
