Hi,

Just trying to source a local photographer in Fiji at the moment and wondering if anyone out there has used or been to a wedding in Fiji with a photographer from Fiji? Trying to reduce the cost of having to fly someone with us from Australia!

Cheers!

Hi there…..we have recently booked our wedding at the Westin Denarau and all of their packages include photography.  All of the resorts should offer photography as part of their packages or at least offer it as an optional extra.

Otherwise a guy called Yoshi from Ocean Studios gets rave reviews on the Vogue brides forum.

Our package includes 72 images presented in an album, as well as the disk from memory – will have to dig out the paperwork.

Congrats and good luck!

Thanks Poppet! Yeah we are getting married at the Sheraton as well, good pick! We have photography included as well but from what I have heard from friends that married there a couple of years ago they aren’t professional photographers taking those photos included. I suppose it depends what you want on the day. I have checked out Yoshi (he was recommended by the event co-oridinator as well) and another we’re interested in is Tokman Imagez – if you are interested!

Congrats and thanks again!

Hi girls

So I have found out from the Westin that the photographer they use for their packages is Bula Shots…….

Someone out there must have recently been married in Fiji and used Bula Shots……feedback please!!

Hi Girls!

Yes, I know all about Bula shots!!! I’ve been to two weddings on Denarau which were both beautiful. The first one was a friends the Sheraton with photo’s by Bula shots that were dreadful!!!! So basic and didn’t capture the feel and beauty of the wedding at all! After later research Bula shots don’t even have a website and they have lots and lots of untrained people as their photographers. There were really rushed because they only stayed for like an hour and missed heaps of the family shots. Laura was devastated and couldn’t even contact them afterwards because it was all through the hotel.

Second wedding was my sisters at the Sofitel August 2010. After my friends experience I helped her research photographers because she decided that having beautiful photos was worth spending a little bit more on considering it’s how you remember the wedding for years to come. (my bother in law called it “memory insurance” lol) After looking at all the Fiji photographers we weren’t overly impressed with the quality so she flew in a Melbourne based photographer called Sarah who was devine! She spent practically the whole day with them and didn’t miss a thing from getting ready to cake cutting! Even did some arty ones. Sarah redused her rate a bit to keep it affordable since there was also travel costs so all up it cost about AU$2950 including flights accomodation, approx 700 high resolution images on DVD that my sister has since blown up to big prints for our Christmas presents and 20 personalised thank you cards. The shots were so amazing! blown away, worth every penny! Her website I think is http://www.sarahprior.com

Good Luck :)

Hi

I am getting married at the Westin later this year and have booked Tokman Imagez as the photographer.  I think the portfolio on their website looks great and I have heard through friends who live in Fiji that they have a really good reputation.  They have been great to deal with so far.

Hi Heidi and Sheena,

I met with Isoa, from Tokman Imagez, while I was in Fiji and I’m really excited about our day and our choice in photographer now! He is a really lovely guy and relaxed but understands we don’t run on Fiji time so is organised and from my experience turns up on time! definitely worth the extra money I think, I only plan on getting married once and definitely like the idea of ‘memory insurance’!

Cheers, Erin

Hi Girls,

I’m also getting married in Fiji, at the Outrigger near Sigatoka – Coral Coast. Although I’ve spent months of my life in Fiji over the past five or six years and adore it, I wouldn’t put my photography in the hands of anyone I hadn’t met with! I wouldn’t recommend going with the included wedding photographs as there is no quality guarantee.

I’m only at the beggining of my search but at this stage Tokman Images looks the closest to the quality I need. I can’t afford to fly anyone out from home so I’m going to talk to some expat friends there and see what they recommend. Stay tuned!

Hi Knotties!

Amazing breakthrough!!!!  I have found an awesome photographer who we will be lucky enough to have capture our day.  It took lots of Googling but check out her website:

http://maliajohnson.com/#/page/93ff/home/

She is an American girl living in Nadi with her husband and has been so fantastic to deal with.  Very prompt responses on email (no “Fiji time”) and really forthcoming with info and INFINITE patience with my many questions.

The standard of her work impressed me the most out of all of the photographers I looked at and she has just made the process so easy, which is very handy six weeks out from the big day.

Initially we didn’t budget for a photographer as we were going to use Bula Shots as per the wedding package however after seeing feedback etc and knowing that we wanted a beautiful record of our day, we decided that you get what you pay for – and the $ we are saving by taking the wedding offshore we have been able to allocate to the photography.

I can’t recommend her highly enough!
