Hi folks,
Has anyone used diyregistry.com.au? We like the fact that we can select gifts from a variety of stores and a guest can buy them at the shop. Plus, we cna choose whatever shop we want.

Hi Veronica,
The biggest flaw I can see with this type of registry is that guests will need to ring/log in once to get the list and again to remove an item off the list. If they don’t ring up you might end up with two and if they ring up and someone has beat them to it then they have to return the gift and get another one which may be annoying! The other thing is that there is no option for guests who aren’t coming to the wedding and want to purchase a gift for you.
Of course this happens with other registries but at least at Myer they let your guest know straight away before they have left the shop so they can choose something else.
Why not save the $75 and have your own list on a wedding website (free) and let guests know to go there. You could always ask your guests to notify someone (mum? bridesmaid?) for it to be removed.
All I can say it is a better option than the ones that charge guests a commission and then just hand over cash to the bride & groom (which in my opiniion is lying to your guests).

Thank you! That was great advice.
I’m a bit new in the wedding game – what sort of wedding website are you talking about?
Cheers

You can get a free one on weebly.com. It is basically a website that you do up for your guests with information on it. Go to the knot usa (http://www.theknot.com) and have a look around the forums there and you will notice the girls have bio or planning bio in their post. If you click on this it will take you to a website (http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/local-wedding-boards_nevada-las-vegas_new-weeknew-tasks) Click the link and in junebugs post you will notice it says bio link next to her picture. This is her plannig one but she has another one for her guests along the same lines with a bit more information in it that she doesn’t share (internet stalkers and all that)
