Bouquets…

Sun 24 Oct 2010 20:22PM posts 10

I’m having some trouble with my flowers. I was going to buy them from the flower market and make them but thats still fairly expensive.. I was then thinking of going to a florist and ordering a bouquet from there. If I was to just tape it and add my ribbon I think that could really work?? What do you think? I’m getting married in Brisbane/Ipswich.

Hey Bella, I am doing the same- I am ordering my flowers in from the local flower hut (dont mention the word wedding! much cheaper!) and then putting it together with a ribbon myself.

I think it will work fine, I am having a very simple bouquet just cream roses so it should be easy enough, I think you will be fine doing it this way too!

I am getting my whole bouquet for 25 dollars which is much cheaper than ordering a wedding bouquet of roses!!!

Thanks girls. I’ve decided to go to a flower market and make all the Bouquets myself. I’m making small bouquets for my bridesmaids and a bigger one for myself and corsages for the boys and our parents.

Im doing the same thing!
I had a look on youtube, and just put in ‘how to make a bouquet’ and so many fantastic demonstrations came up.
I bought some flowers from woolies and had a few practices, and it turns out that as long as you pick nice flowers, they will look good as long as theyre thrown together half decently !

I wouldn’t recommend doing your own flowers- it’s a really nice idea, and i considered it myself, but there just simply isnt time if you want them to be fresh and beautiful on the big day!! If you have a friend that has some experience with it then thats an awesome idea- just dont let your wedding day be her first try!!

Otherwise it is something worth sucking it up and paying. It doesn’t have to be too much- we paid $500 for everything which is hundreds less than other companies. Do your research. ( i used Lovely Bridal Blooms in Sydney and they were fantastic- you can google it)

Right This Time

Good luck with doing it yourself, but as an ex florist, I must say, practice practice practice! (perhaps go to Crazy Clarks and buy artificial ones to practise with) What time of the year are you marrying? If it’s a summer wedding in Ipswich, be mindful of the fact that roses will wilt and quickly, if they haven’t been treated right. Make sure you have somewhere to store them, preferabbly a fridge set to 4c (not much colder or you’ll frost them) and don’t store them with fruit or veges as the gas they emit will blacken them too. If you’re taping them, tape two together and keep taping as you add them. They will last better if they are wired, but as the bride, I can’t really see you having that kind of time. I’m marrying in 2 weeks time and guess what, knowing how much work even the most simple of wedding bouquets create, I am having a florist do mine for me..I know too much!lol Best of luck!
