Bird Cage Veils for my Bridesmaids

Thu 8 Apr 2010 02:03AM posts 6

Hey Knotties,

I am looking for 3 x bird cage veils for my bridesmaids as I am doing the whole 1950’s theme wedding in a theatre. But they are so expensive each!
I will wear a traditional long veil but though I could perhaps make their bird cage veils or find somewhere they are much cheaper. Ebay doesn’t have much either, and if they do, they cost a bit.

Does any one know of any places or easy to DIY instructions?

I live in Terrigal, NSW.

Oh also fingerless, white, lace gloves for them to wear… Again there is not much on ebay. Any places I could buy these?

Thanks so much! Carlie Jean

Try this link from Project Wedding.  I’ve used it before:

And if you want some good images of different birdcage veils, try http://www.unveiledbridaldesigns.com

Otherwise – if you go into a decent size haberdashery they will usually have a seamstress on hand who can knock one over for $30 or so.

Re fingerless gloves, what search words are you using?  I’ve had the opposite problem – looking for normal gloves and all i can find is fingerless lace gloves.  Try just searching lace glove (leave out the word fingerless).

Otherwise try costume stores….

I have seen those veils in Diva and Equip. I am doing the 1950’s theme too and noticed those shops are selling alot of vintage style accessories.

I’ve seen bird-cage veils ( both black and white ones) in fabric stores, also I’ve seen lace gloves in jay jays, might be worth a try.

BTW, my name is Carly Jean, very similar! lol.
