Can anybody give a list of what needs to be included in the Best Mans Speech?
Every website i have looked at has contradicting information.

I am quite terrified of this! FH is not having a best man, because he doesn’t want “one of his friends to be the best” but I’m sure this duty will fall to one of his mates of quite a few years, who is best discribed as almost identical in manner to Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother. He also teases me everytime we’re together about his speech and the bucks night.Glad though that out of the other groomsman, one is going to be 17 and one is uber-christian, so I’m sure they will balance him out!
In saying that, putting my fears aside, I’m not getting at all involved with the dudes. FH is snazzy enough to help pick out some suits, and “Barney” is big enough and old enough to figure out what to say. I have enough to do without getting involved in that.
Would love to hear everyones advice on this also, incase FH comes to me and asks for some advice for his mate…

I am leaving it all up to the best man to decide – he is my FH’s best mate and has been for years, I’ve known him for a few years now and we get along well. We both trust him to come up with an entertaining and relevant speech. I think that unless you have reservations about what he might say, don’t worry about it. And if you do think he might come up with something too over the top, have a quiet word to FH about it. Other than that, allow yourself to be (hopefully) pleasantly surprised on the day!

I’m sure if he googles ‘Best Man Speech’ it’ll probably come up with some tips on what to write, but I wouldn’t be giving him a list, what does he need it for? I assume he is an adult and therefore is able to write his own speeches, why not leave it as a surprise?

FH’s best man is already married, will have had plenty of time to get to know my two brothers (as they are also groomsmen), and has known me for almost as long as I’ve been with FH so I think I’m pretty safe in him knowing what he is doing and hopefully not overstepping the line! I’d suggest you leave it up to him and your man, and if you’re really worried about what he is going to say, request a copy of his speech.
