Advice on the pretty bits

Mon 18 Jun 2012 14:50PM posts 8

I would love some advise on brides out there.
Im stuck with what to do with hair makeup and accessories.
1) My dress is red so cant wear a veil without looking like a fruitloop.and cant seem to find hair accessories that arent too blingy. any suggestions where i can look
2) i have no idea what im looking for in a makeup artist and hair dresses apart from that they will travel. does anyone have any suggestions in coffs harbour?
3) make up ideas im a little caught between what you are meant to have on your big day. usually when i go out i like red/burgendy lipstick and like a bit of loud colour for the eyes with the dark eyeliner. How do you still look like your self without looking like im going clubbing? am i meant to be going with the nude look?
thanks any advise is appreciated!!!

Hi-5 for being awesome and doing it your way!
The way I see it, FH is marrying YOU because you are YOU. So do what you feel like. I wouldn’t go nude if it’s something you never have done in the past and will never do again – you won’t feel like yourself and will look back at the photos and feel weird. Just go with what you feel comfortable in and maybe tone it down a touch (and with the lippy – remember you have to smooch FH so make it a decent one that wont get all over him and wont get on your teeth in the photos!!!!!!!)
How about a simple gold head band or one with a few diamante’s on it? Without knowing more about your wedding I can’t suggest much more.

Thanks for the support! a lot of ppl get very funny when i talk about the colours for my items for the wedding. =oP
but you are right….. being me is important on my wedding day.
lol that would be a sexy look lippy all over the boy.
mmm yeah i think just a few single diamonte clips might be nice. my dress has ALOT of beading on the bodice and with the dress being red and the beading being clear it is very noticeable. we are going for a cocktail/fun feel for the wedding but its at a golf resort where there is lots of greenery and lush settings. the ceremony is in a little secluded forrest area.
thanks for your advise Dankistar. =o)

HI Donelle,
I love the fact that you are having a red wedding dress, my siggestion is that since your dress will be the ‘wow’ factor try to keep everything else very subtle, and you.
I would go for a nude or natural look with your makeup, with your hair, I like DankiStar’s suggestion of a headband or a couple of clips, perhaps you could wear your hair down with lots of curls (not sure if you have long hair or even like curls, but this is what I pictured when you decribed your dress)
When I was looking for hairstyles and make up ideas, I used google and pinterest, to find my styles.
When looking at hairdressers and make up artists, go with someone you feel comfortable with and someone who gets your style, someone who wont push their ideas onto you, I did a quick google search for you, there is Bellisimo Brides in Coffs Harbour.

thanks, thats helpful. i have short bob style hair…. i have been tossing up about if i should grow or get extentions for it. i love the idea of the long flowy curls.
Yes i think you are both right, im def going to simple hair piece and accessories. just a pew diamonte hair pins or hair band. dont want to be too loud with the dress.
bellisimo brides, ok will give them a call. might go in and see them too to see how i feel with them. ugh imagine having someone doing your makeup that you really did not like. that would just add so much stress to the start of the day.
thanks girls.xxxxxx

Maybe instead of hair accessories you could focus on glamming up your look with earrings?  If you are in the Sydney area I would suggest you attend an upcoming event, where bridal experts will be on hand and could give you some advice.  The event is launching a new bridal collection by Samantha Wills, which does include some hair pieces.

Good luck!

I love the idea of a red dress!!! I am also going sans veil and am going to head to the Samantha Wills & Wedding List Co event to get a look at the SW bridal collection for 2012/13. Super excited to get some head pieces as I want them to be statement. Donelle, register at http://www.weddinglistco.com.au/events and have a look. It reads as if it will be a great place to find accessories that aren’t too blingy
