Today I’m Loving: Lilac Wedding Details
Right now I’m totally in love with lilac. It sits so sweetly with vintage, homespun and rustic themes, but it can take on a slightly modern vibe, too. Yes, it’s romantic and rather girly, but give your man the choice between pastel purple and other feminine shades like puce or powder pink, and it’s bound to come out on top! Here, some delightful ways to incorporate lilac into your wedding.
White and Lavender Cake
I adore the detailing of this pretty six-tired cake. The sugar flowers must have taken hours upon hours of eye-straining work, and the little pin-head dots and floral pattern completes the look.
Blended with black or grey, lilac suddenly becomes more sophisticated (and yes, unisex). This invitation suite by Amare Design @ Etsy strikes the balance between vintage and modern.
Dahlia Ring Pillow
An ivory chiffon dahlia bloom gives this lilac ring pillow softness and texture. They’re available at Woomipyo @ Etsy.
Lilac Place Setting
Invert re-occuring prints or patterns to avoid them getting tired. We love how it’s been done here, with the menu print in purple, and the place card in an embossed ivory.
Don’t stop at the decor. Many patisseries offer macaroons in shades of purple. Try Cacao Fine Chocolates & Patisserie.
Subtle Lavender Centrepieces
Use lavender or lilac in varying strengths. Sometimes all you need is a dash of purple – or a few sprigs of lavender – to maintain your theme.
Decorate the entrance to your reception with a gorgeous, home-made wreath (picture by WildRidgeDesign @ Etsy).
