His parents shared 27 cakes with their wedding guests and Prince William has decided to indulge in more than one cake at his reception.
One will be a rich, cake the other a chocolate cake he loved as a child.
The main cake will be created by famed cake designer Fiona Cairns who has been commissioned to produce cakes for other high profile clients including Paul McCartney who orders one of Cairns’ fruit cakes each year. She is also a favourite of rockers Pink Floyd and Simply Red.
The cake will be multi-tiered and will feature a variety of flowers, including the four flowers of the United Kingdom; English Rose, Scottish thistle, Welsh daffodil, and Irish shamrock.
Kate and William will release their official cipher on their wedding day, and it is likely to feature as a decoration on the first cake.
In case a multi-tiered magnificent cake wasn’t amazing enough, William has requested a second cake. This cake will have special meaning to the Prince who enjoyed the chocolate cake as a boy. British Biscuit makers McVitie’s have been commissioned to make the cake according to a recipe from the kitchen at Buckingham Palace.
“When Prince William was a young boy he would have it for tea and really enjoyed it,” said Paul Courtney, the firm’s cake design and development head chef.
We can just image a young William sitting around indulging in his favourite cake!
