$99 For a 15-Minute Marriage? Only in Las Vegas!
Ready to just run away from it all? Las Vegas has an even quicker and cheaper wedding option that may appeal.
by Alicia Richardson
So you’ve spent the entire weekend racing around planning your wedding, and are now so exhausted that you feel like throwing your grand party plans away to elope instead? Well, those bright lights of Las Vegas have always drawn couples who want to run away from everything and everybody to wed, and today it’s even easier (not to mention cheaper) in this flashy-trashy town, thanks to the Las Vegas Wedding Wagon.
This bare basic marriage concept was devised by Reverend Andy and Reverend James who believed “mobile matrimony” would be a big hit in the ‘Sin City’. Just turn up with your marriage license and $99 and they’ll do the rest: perform a legal ceremony and take some photos for your wedding album. All of which takes just 15-minutes from start to finish. You don’t even need to bring a witness along for the ride; it’s all part of their package deal!
While most of the weddings they perform are booked in advance (which can be done on their website or over the phone), they also offer the ‘emergency ceremony’ option telling The Knot US that “if [you’re] calling for an immediate dispatch, just let us know where to meet you.”
Suggested locations to meet their zippy purple wedding wagon are the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign, Bills-Caesars Bridge and downtown outside the Las Vegas Marriage Bureau Office.
It is definitely a cheap option, though perhaps when you start to add up the travel time, along with the cost of flights (plus accommodation) for you both – and if you actually want those closest to you to attend – your bridal party, parents, siblings and a few other friends and family members, their $99 wedding package may not seem so quick and cheap after all! Maybe this is a good one to conisder for your first anniversary vow renewals, or as a commitment ceremony as a laugh on your honeymoon.
Q. Have you seriously considered eloping?
