Decisions, Decisions

This week has been good and bad in the wedding arena; I have made leaps and bounds in the decoration department, though when it came to the bridesmaid dresses… well that didn’t go as well as I had planned.

Let’s start with the good, the centrepieces have finally been figured out. Yesterday (on a visit to see my cute niece) my sister-in-law told me that she had come across a creative and cost effective idea. In her travels with other fellow mum’s she heard about a reception table decor idea involving vintage books, mason jars, flowers and tea lights and since our venue is 125 years old, vintage books suit the theme to a tee.

So what we are doing is tying a few books together with twine and on top placing a mason jar full of fresh lavender flowers, with tea lights scatted around. Voila! A simple and beautiful centrepiece. That’s another thing to tick off the list.

Continuing with the good theme, in an hour I will be seeing my wedding dress for the first time in about six months for my first fitting and I can’t wait. Seriously as I write this all I am thinking about is the dress.

Finally our wedding invites are ready to go out. It’s been a long time preparing these invites so it’s a relief to get them out.

Now to the bad, I mentioned last week about the bridesmaid dress dilemma and sadly my worst fears were realised… The dresses did not fit any of my girls. Unfortunately the bust area was even bigger than we suspected once we saw them on. In case that wasn’t disappointing enough, the company who made the dresses was in no way willing to alter the gowns or even exchange or return my money. To alter the dresses was going to be costly, as each one would have to be deconstructed, and unfortunately we don’t have the time or money to do that.

Luckily, I have supportive bridesmaids and a husband-to-be who have assured me that we will find alternative dresses and rectify this online nightmare. So that is what we will be doing tomorrow, searching for the best fitting dresses for my girls. Wish me luck.

Till next time. Julie xo
