One of the appointment’s I’ve most been looking forward to has been my makeup trail. I found my makeup artist, Sandra Glynn, at The Wedding Establishment expo last year, and after a few minutes on her website knew she would be perfect for the job.
With MoH Sarah installed on a chair to capture every moment, Sandra set to work with my rather fuzzy brief – an inspiration pic of Ivanka Trump on her wedding day, and a request that I “look like myself but better”. Not supermodel better of course, just… you know... better than Neil’s used to seeing me!
Sandra was brimming with tips, which was great. I’d noticed I was veering into “just like my mother territory” with dark brown liner on my lower rims every day, but Sandra suggested I try a lighter shade of brown, and concentrate more on the upper lid, with just a little at the bottom.
My lashes on one eye are shorter than the other… I have no idea why. We tried several types of falsies to even them up – from half sets to full-on mega lashes that reminded me of our childhood pet – Daisy the cow. She had gorgeous lashes, but sadly they looked a bit wrong on me!
Once we got to lips, I had a bit of a dilemma. I’m not much of a lippy wearer, but gloss just didn’t seem right for the day. Not least for the fact that Neil hates the stuff. I imagine our kiss on the day is going to be followed by Neil not-so-subtly wiping his lips with his jacket sleeve! We’ve gone with a bit of a combo – a gorgeous shade by Harlotte, with a little gloss in the centre to accentuate my pout.
Another job ticked off my To Do list – hurrah!
