Jill’s Wedding Day Has Arrived!

Sigh… weddings. So much planning, preparation and consideration goes into one beautiful day and then it is …over. Like all major events, the lead up to Jill’s wedding was filled with the usual last minute dramas and mini-crises.

Firstly, a few days before the wedding my flight was delayed, so I missed the manicure and pedicure appointment, but thankfully not the wedding! Then as I flew into Sydney big, black thunderheads loomed on the horizon and I wondered if Jill had a Plan B for her outdoors by-the-beach ceremony!  Jill however, is a half cup full person and I think her attitude of “as long as we’re married at the end of the day, I don’t care”, helped manifest the beautiful blue sky that appeared the next day. So blue and sunny in fact, that we all got a touch of sunburn during the outdoors wedding rehearsal! But in the end, the cocktail wedding at the Palm Beach Boathouse, was spectacular. The food, which included an enormous paella pan, was  both delicious and entertaining!

Jill’s friend Janine Harvey of J9s cakes made the gorgeous wedding cake, taking her inspiration from Jill & Tom’s favourite chocolate bars- Top Deck and Cherry Ripe. It was soooo good.

The wait staff were also exceptional, somehow they knew the exact moment when something was needed, even  before  you knew you needed it yourself. And the photographers, Sabit and Nadia from Momenti Divini, had taken more than 2000 photographs before the reception had even started! There were just so many beautiful moments to capture. The mismatched bridesmaids dresses were a hit.  Quite a number people came up to me during the night and said our dresses were just perfect. I couldn’t believe how cohesive we actually were, especially as we did not even see each other’s dresses until we were getting ready!

The speeches were great, Jill’s was particularly touching and funny, thanking her new in-laws for raising a wonderful man who she promised to cherish and love. Her new father-in-law, who is quite the speech maker himself, said Jill’s was the speech of the night. Jill made an absolutely beautiful bride & Tom a dashing groom.

And most importantly you could feel the love.

Here the couple share a quiet moment by the bay.
