Finally, I Found My Bridesmaid Outfit!
It may have taken three dress purchases and (too) many shopping trips, but Bridesmaid Alisa has finally found her outfit.

Despite my shopping nightmares, I have managed to purchase three potential bridesmaids dresses in Jill’s required colour scheme in the last six months. A little over the top? Perhaps.
As threatened in a previous blog, I did indeed go shopping online. I’m quite particular about buying clothing online; I check the size guides and take my measurements just to be sure that it will be an adequate fit. I also read reviews by other people who have also purchased clothing that I’m looking at buying.
So, after seeing this gorgeous champagne Maggy London dress online, I carefully took my measurements and decided that it was a close enough fit.

I then read reviews from buyers who said things like “flattering” and ”hugs the curves in all the right places”. I also liked the very retro “Mad Men” style. Well, it arrived and let’s just say that it looked a little different on me than it did on the model! (Don’t they always?)
I then found this darker nude dress at Portmans DFO outlet for the ridiculous price of $29.95!

As I’m still not back to my pre-baby weight, I felt really comfortable with the flowiness of the dress and thought it was ‘wedding-y’ enough for a bridesmaids dress. Jill and Maid-of-Honour Yarrow, however, thought the colour was a little dark for my skin tone and also that it wasn’t flattering as the more fitted Maggy London. Isn’t it funny when your friends think you look better in the dress you feel less comfortable in? What’s with that I wonder? Anyway, it was a $29.95 dress and I have worn it, so never mind that it wont be my bridesmaid’s dress! The Maggy London has since been my back-up dress.
To avoid it becoming my real bridesmaid dress I had been looking absolutely everywhere in the last two-month countdown to the wedding, desperately trying hard not to have to wear something that I felt less than comfortable in. I even went into Supre!! God, can you imagine a Supre bridesmaid dress?! I bet that’s a major bridesmaid faux pas! (I would like to say that they did have some very sweet champagne coloured lacy dresses but as I haven’t bought anything from Supre since I was 18, I just couldn’t go there).
But at last, I have found this lovely and more importantly for me, comfortable, dress from Witchery.

Silk, beach wedding-y, and definitely something that I can (and will) wear again.
And I also got my shoes. The brief was dressy sandals/thongs with some bling.

Outfit complete.
How is everyone else out there going with their bridesmaid shopping? Where did you get your outfit from? How many dresses did you buy?!
