How should we order the events of the day?
Hi! Please help! We are planning a wedding for April next year, and we have no idea how to start our timeline/event run sheet. We’re trying to base it on the wedding photographer package which runs for five hours. We just wanted a rough idea of what time everything should run through if our ceremony starts at 3:30 or 4pm. How much time should we allow for photos, what time should dinner/speeches/first dance etc. be? We have no idea.

Must It Be In The Bride’s Hometown?
It sounds like your mum is sticking to the tradition of having the wedding celebration in the bride’s hometown, while your fiancé is being practical. The key is to think about your guests and what will be easiest for them. If guests are coming from both towns, it makes sense to plan the wedding for…

Announcing Wedding Website?
You’ve got a couple options for directing people to your wedding webpage. Save-the-date cards, if you’re sending them, are a perfect way to share the info — just include a line like “for more details, check out www…” As for the invites, rather than including a reply card and envelope, you can include a card…

Can We See Each Other Pre-ceremony?
There is a tradition of the bride and groom not seeing each other on their wedding day, but it stems from the ancient tradition of the bride not showing her face to the groom at all before the wedding! Many couples adhere to the not-seeing-each-other custom because they feel it adds excitement and anticipation to…

Where To Stay The Night Before The Wedding?
How you spend the night before the wedding is entirely up to you — the key is, like you said, to get as much sleep as possible. If you’ve been living together, it can seem kind of weird and old-fashioned to suddenly move out for the night. That said, make sure that you really believe…

Last Name Woes?
Why not just add your husband’s last name to the end of yours? That way you could legally retain your middle name and given last name, plus add his. You wouldn’t have to write out the entire thing every time, as you would if you hyphenated. So for example, if your name is Jennifer Ann…

Benefits of a Consultant?
A consultant will save you stress during the planning process and especially on the actual day of your wedding. They’ll also serve as your creative partner — not just overseeing logistical matters — but also providing a wealth of ideas, insights, opinions, and more. Don’t have time to research suppliers? Consultants do all the planning…

Acknowledging Tragedy?
While moving ahead with your wedding in the midst of such sadness was a difficult decision, it’s also a wonderful way to celebrate life, new beginnings, and the future. Honouring the friend and family member you have so recently lost is an excellent way to bring you and your guests together. Here are just a…

How Can We Plan For Weather?
Talk to someone at the Australian Bureau of Meteorology. If anyone should keep records on this stuff or can forecast what it might be like next October, they can. At the very least, they’ll be able to tell you where you can find out. Good luck!

Day-of-the-Week Debate?
First of all, try not to stress too much about what other people prefer. Of course you want your guests to be happy, but you need to rest assure that since you’re inviting them to witness the most monumental event of your life (and be your guest at a killer party) they’ll be honoured to…
