4 Fashionable Grooms — 4 Different Ways

The Classic Groom

This groom knows that the classics work, so he’s sticking with them! If he’s keen to stick with a black and white palette your groom can still add personal touches that compliment his classic style. Why not invest in an investment timepiece, we’re seeing more and more grooms splurging on a fabulous new watch as their ‘engagement watch’, which we think is a great idea (why should us girls get to have all the fun?). Engrave the back of the timepiece with a personal message for a personal touch.

A classic groom will of course opt for a bow tie, but don’t think that he has to stick with black. Find a colour to match your maids dresses, or even try something striped or patterned to flaunt his style. If you’re planning on splashing out on the bow tie, don’t forget to keep in mind if you’re going to match it back with the cummerbund.

The Trendy Groom

Don’t hide your groom’s signature style, if he’s got a quirky fashion sense, go with it! It is after all one of the reasons you feel for him in the first place. You need to strike a balance between allowing his style to shine through while still keeping it wedding-day appropriate and timeless. If he’s keen to accessorise with a bold shirt then choose an understated suit in a grey or black. Alternatively, if your groom wants to mix it up with a blue suit for example, stick with a white shirt and a toned down tie.

An easy way to mix up a groom’s style if he wants to buck convention is to skip the leather dress shoes in favour of sneakers. But don’t think that we mean any old sneakers, your groom needs to be wearing a brand new pair for your wedding day. You want him to look unique, not scruffy!

The Dapper Groom

Taking a page out of The Great Gatsby? A classic white bow tie, a pair of patent leather shoes and gemstone cuff links help give a tux an even fancier feel. This style works perfectly if your wedding style has a vintage, but still formal feel. Take it one step further by adding details like a cravat, wing tipped shoes or even a top hat! Skip the tux shirt for a modern twist, opt instead for a plain dress shirt that will save your groom’s look from appearing too ‘costume-y’.

The Sleek Groom

Make James Bond proud (we’re talking about the Daniel Craig 007) and keep it simple with a slim necktie, a pocket square and a leather-banded watch. These timeless additions to your grooms suit will stand the test of time, and can easily be worn again for other weddings or formal functions. If you want to mix it up without straying from your sleek aesthetic, switch your black tie for a grey or navy style, or have your groomsmen in a different colour so it’s not all too black.
